For several years I've been doing my long line driving with a very nice set 
of soft cotton longe lines.  They're really way too long.  I end up trying to 
manage big loops of extra line in each hand,  plus directing the horse and 
keeping my aging feet under me.
 
 I think I'll buy some nice soft cotton rope and make more manageable lines.  
The question, how much line is enough but not too much?  Personal opinions 
are fine.  I imagine not everyone shares the same "ideal" length.
