Brcause all five of the Icelandics we know have the same sire and came from
Niels West we only have experience with this small sample group. Their sire,
Ofeigur fra Chapman Crest Acre by Flekkur was the horse that Dr. West rode all
over his ranch into his 90's. The horse is a gelding now and lives near us,
but I haven't had a chance to go meet him. His owner says "he's a
sweetheart". Our little girls and our friends' mare are intelligent, sensible
and
teachable.
Their mare was purchased to be a therapy horse for their disabled daughter
and absolutely understands her job. The other children in the family prepared
her for their sister by making every odd gesture and noise they could think of.
Lina's riders need to be lifted into place and sort of pulled off to
dismount. She is pretty amazing.
