he will not round his back and rack. He will lift his head and nose out to saddlerack and in true rack will lift his head and sorta stretch his body out long. A horse that racks has to be a little hollow but if they get too hollow they will ventroflex too much and go into pace, this is my experience. If your racky horse goes over into pace you need to get him in a bit to lower the head, a mullen mouth pelham or grazing curb is good. Take off the tie down. Look at saddlefit for pain that will make them too hollow. But honestly, why on earth dont people realize IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT. Except I do agree a hard pace needs fixing. Its too hard on the horse's frame to be that ventroflexed with a hard pounding gait with lots of suspension. The way I teach my horses to gait, and I am very very good at this, an expert in fact so you should really really listen to me when I tell you this, its the absolute secret of the universe for getting great gait--- are you ready?? I get them in a nice bit and a nice saddle and I sit up there like a big sack of potatoes and let them do what they do best. Janice
