I watched my last DVD in my Level 1 Parelli kit yesterday where I saw
the 'riding on the rail' technique.

Really wanting to try that I went to the barn and saddled up Gat (not
Orri because he's suddenly become afraid of the Carrot stick and
string so I have to go back to the beginning getting him OK with it).

I bridled Gat with the rope halter underneath but I didn't use the
bridle/reins. I had Gat walk along the wall, only moving the rope
when she moved away from the wall. We did that at a walk both sides
for about 10 minutes more or less, until she was really relaxed. I
don't ride her often so she's usually tense with me.

Anyways, once we were done with that exercise I picked up the reins
and we trotted for a while. I found that she was very light and
responsive to the rein and I'm not sure if that's because of the
previous exercise with only halter/rope; the last time I rode her I
remember that she seemed to be heavy in hand.

Interesting.
