oooh i hope not! I have ridden in the water so much... swam horses in deep water, been through areas where we found a sudden drop off etc... I would not ride with anyone if their horse was in any sort of tie down even if they went out ankle deep, cause you could always find a hole or drop off!
Also, a lot of people dont know so I am telling you--- when riding in the water you do not USE REINS. no no nooooooooooooo. A horse has to have its head to swim!!! Please please remember this! Hang on to the horse's mane and steer with legs! sometimes they only have their nostrils out of the water and the water adds weight to reins and without knowing it you can be pulling the nostrils under! Its hard work for them and they really have to have unobstructed breathing when swimming and like humans their heads rise and fall out of the water and they have to be able to concentrate on breathing rhythmically while swimming just as we do!! I know two people whose horses almost drowned because they were not careful about this! Janice-- yipie tie yie yo
