Laree, the one time I've given Lutalyse the vet said I could give it or I could bring my mare in and he'd do it. He warned me that they can really show a lot of pain when it is given. I decided to be safe and have her at the vet when it was given, that way if assistance was needed we were there.
It does cause them to sweat profusely and cramp up. If possible I'd recommended that you have it done at the vet's office. I would also follow up with an ultra sound, done in the window of time that the vet can safely pinch a developing ovum. Good for you for following up with an attempt to correct a bad situation! I hope your efforts bring about a change and that you do not need to follow through with a law suit.
