Around here my guys are dewormed 3 times a year. May, August, and
then in October after the first good frost. Their fecal samples are
always clean in October.

However, the babies need it more often, and some babies more than
others. I dewormed Solon almost twice as much as the other babies
we've had around here.

Babies carrying a heavy worm load can do damage to their gut that can
be a life- affecting thing. At least that's what I've been led to
believe.

I have often wondered when an owner who is diligent with deworming
suddenly finds herself faced with a colicky horse, if it isn't because
of some lack of deworming that happened to that horse as a baby.
