My FAVORITE reins in the world are cotton rope reins. In the past, I've gotten them from Jeffers. I like them because they are soft, fat and easy on my old arthritic hands. The ones from Jeffers are white, and I've dyed a few pairs - sometimes successfully, and sometimes not! Anyway, I just noticed a couple of days ago that several people have them for sale on ebay - in COLORS! I bought a "teal" pair (actually look more turquoise to me, like Saga's saddle pad) earlier, and I just won a hot pink pair! http://tinyurl.com/38uyxq I see them also in blue, purple, green and Lucy-Runa-Ricardo-yellow-gold, as well as in black and white. The roping reins are kind of short, but work for all of my Icelandic's. They also have them in the longer split reins too.
