Really!? We took Rock Ranches' Gypsy Vanner stallion to the big horse expo in Sacramento and he was awesome (his first ever). I walked him all over the place, with children running up to him and hugging all over him, crazy horses prancing by sideways, giant fans, golf carts, etc. and he was absolutely unfazed. They imported 5 relatively unhandled 2 year old mares and all but one turned out super mellow. The more hyper one sold to someone who liked the Vanners but wanted more spirit!
The other big outfit that was there had gentle, well-behaved horses too. It might help that Anna goes to Europe and picks them out herself. That said, Judy Ryder and I saw a girl get dumped during an informal breed demo at an Expo, but it looked like the girth hadn't been tightened, the horse was nervous when he entered the arena and the girl seemed overfaced.
