I've had a rough horse week, first Mura swallowed an alfalfa cube without
chewing in order to keep another horse from getting any and got Choke! She
started gagging and copious amounts of green mucus poured from her nose! I
had to flush water in without having her get it in her lungs and the cube
finally loosened.

Yesterday, my bosses' Belgian Trigger colicked! I spent all afternoon
walking him and trying to get water into him. He kept straining to go and
after I gave him some Banamine he passed some stool and seemed more comfy,
but by morning he was uncomfortable again. More Banamine, and tons more
walking (the next place I work at will be flat!).

The vet was getting set to come out when he urinated, passed gas and started
eating! The vet decided to wait until the afternoon when he was already
scheduled to do Mura's eye. Trigger seemed fine for three hours and then
started laying down again and straining to go. More walking and finally got
him to drink some water but no poop!

The vets (I rated two) pulled out stool from the back end, but he stlll has
stool empacted beyond their reach so they pumped mineral oil, a stool
softener, and water in the front end and he has through tonight to really go
or he has to get surgery :(

At least Mura did well with her eye surgery. They mildly sedated her,
slipped a piece of styrofoam cup between her lower lid (pretty low tech) and
eyeball and sprayed liquid nitrogen on the tumor to freeze it. It's going
to look really ugly for a few days then slowly dry up. They may do a little
more cryo, if they think they left anything. She came out of her sedation
easily, and was of course soon hungry! We also has two lambs neutered while
they were there!
