knock on wood, but my horses do not colic from sand. My vet told me a
horse on free choice hay in our sandy area does better as far as sand
colic. I feed free choice coastal bermuda hay, and I have no grass to
speak of. At the boarding barn horses frequently colic'd but the ones
on free choice hay didnt. I hear what you are saying, but if you
really want to keep them, maybe you could try feeding more hay? I
never feed sand clear products because jaspar would never eat it so I
just gave up. GB has colicked a lot but lord, he's got so many
problems due to age and getting adjusted here. Fox may have storm
colic! I am keeping an eye on that. He lays down and acts
lackadaisacal when a big front is moving in. I have had their poop
tested and no sand. Amazing! I have three rolls of hay left and no
way is it gonna make it til end of may when the hay comes in so I will
have to peel hay and portion it a month maybe and then I will have to
worry... but maybe my garss will be in better by then!
