If you like trail riding, try A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains by 
Isabella L Bird.
 
I have it out this morning because an endurance riding friend asked to borrow 
it for another gal who likes trail riding.
 
It is a compilation of the letters home of an English woman who rode through 
the Rockies on horseback in 1873.  It's really inspiring if you love riding on 
trail and pretty amazing to consider when her riding took place.
