Lorraine, I think I told you wrong.  Get a mounting block and stand
beside Orri facing FORWARD, the same way he is facing.  Then put your
foot in facing forward, not sticking him in the side, and then lean
forward and OVER so you are sorta laying like judy said on the center
of him and reach your right arm over so more is on the other side, and
grab the edge of the saddle on the other side as you are sorta already
laying your weight on his withers/neck and then concentrate on your
weight being on the other side more as you slide your leg up and over.
 When you got it figured out cause it feels clumsy at forst, thendo it
with a shorter mounting block then from the ground.  Also of course
never hang onto the saddle but the mane.
