Mac, our TWH gelding, has a crappy canter, but he's very lateral. He's a very good horse, but his canter stinks! Look at my babies playing in the field and you'll see a variety of natural gaits, still uninfluenced by humans - and I hope they keep their range of gaits. Sure, they gallop sometimes, but they often canter too...and walk, and trot and foxtrot, run walk, saddle rack....Canter seems to be VERY easy and natural for all my foals.
