Mine are all clicker trained to stand still for mounting. Once I say "stand" they stay still. I do not have any rein tension but I do have them in my left hand along with mane. Like Susan, I make a point of adjusting the stirrups, saddle, wiggle around a bit. I also make sure you can mount from both sides. Cherie
