at his current stage of training, if i don't stay forward and i don't
post big, stjarni breaks into tolt.  i get the impression his previous 
owners didn't care for trotting at all, though his is big and beautiful
and he offers it freely in the field.  after four months of working on
it, we can now do figure 8's in the ring and he picks up trot directly
from walk when i ask about 90% of the time, but it's still in process.

i do hope to someday be able to post less (and even to *sit* his trot!)
but currently he only lets me get away with that if he is very
distracted, like doing a cones course.
