I took the old man who has been breeding horses over fifty years to
jeffers this weekend. As we were coming in the door a woman was
hobbling toward us. he very gentlemanly stood and waited, holding the
door open for her, as you may or may not know, Jeffers is for all
pets, animals, livestock, not just horses. As she hobbled up, her leg
in a brand new looking cast, the old man said "good morning, how are
you today? And how's that horse!" She said "Fine," then did a
double take and said "How did you know I had a horse?!" and he smiled
and said "I have had horses all my life and I just know its a lot
easier to get a broken leg from a horse than a dog or cat or even a
cow" and he looked at her with some compassion.

Then on the way home I told him I have broken my toes so many times
from my horses through the years, on both feet, every toe, some of
them three or four times. Then a couple of weeks ago I stubbed my toe
vacuuming my swimming pool and broke it. Maybe I need calcium he
said. Said broken bones use up a lot of calcium to heal, that if I
was gonna be around horses or swimming pools maybe I needed calcium.
very wise I think...
