There is a group of seven or so of us that do our endurance conditioning
together. There is one man (husband of one of the gals). My 16 year old
grandson used to ride with us, too, but his school schedule doesn't match our
riding schedule, so he's now doing his training rides alone - with a cell
phone. He's a kick. He will call here to talk with my husband, from
horseback, "Papa, I just saw a huge buck.."

Both Robert and Gabe are very competitive at rides and Gabe loves that he is
the only boy competing at most of the endurance rides, the teen girls flock to
our camp site. But Robyn, you are so right about the "fashion" end of
horsemanship. Gabe loves that horse and does pet him and fuss over him, but
has to be reminded to bathe and clip him.

Good kid, though, and good horse. They won another Junior BC at the last ride
and actually had the highest vet score of any horse in the limited distance.
