At the stable where I am boarding Dama, her pasture has erupted in
buttercups. Nearly half the pasture is now in solid buttercup bloom.
The owner of the stable told me this was good because there was 'so
much for the horses to eat' mixed in with the buttercup plants, but my
own research has shown that buttercups appear to be toxic to horses
and can cause colic and liver damage. I am worried about this as today
I saw Dama and another horse eating the buttercups, although
previously they had been avoiding them. Is this a big red flag? Should
I pull her out of this pasture immediately?
