he looks bay to me! you could have him color tested if you want... its fifty bucks. You pull out mane hair with tweezers and send it to UC Davis. It will show if he is base black or base red (chestnut) and if he is bay it will show he is DNA base black with bay allele positive. and will also tell you if he has cream dilute, and if he has that, then he is smokey black.
