Janice:

I have an imported horse who came (from Iceland) with a deep center crack in
a front hoof. The farrier did all he knew how, I ordered staples and put
them in, used all sorts of hoof supplements and stuff to smear on the hoof
line........ nothing helped.

Then my friend Marianne (who had bought several horses from me) told me that
cracks are often caused by a fungus. So I sloshed fungicide on it whenever I
would think of it (anything such as coppertox, iodine, and any such stuff)
and after about 11 months the crack was gone. Completely gone and has never
come back. So.......... you are right I just did not know the name of the
thing.
