in movies you see native americans riding bareback but I had a history
professor who showed us actual hand carved wooden stirrups used by
indians.  They were so used the wood was worn and polished smooth :)
I dont know what sorta saddle they were attached to but they were
really big!  Bigger than easy rides!  and very heavy.  You would think
in bare feet or moccosins they wouldnt need such big stirrups.
