For trail riding on my Sensation I have the stirrups adjusted
perfectly. Then I started being in training with my friend susan to
eventually enter Tivar in a NATRC competitive trail ride. We are
working on getting him in optimum physical condition and obstacles.
When we trot, I tell her I don't know how to post, she says "don't
worry about posting! Do what I do! This is how most people do it!"
and she stands up and grabs some mane or grabstrap, she said I could
use anything, if i feel i need to, to help balance and stand in the
stirrups while the horse goes uphill at a plain walk or trotting etc.
But my stirrups are too long for my chubby thighs to stand in the
stirrups like this and have total clearance from the saddle. If I
make them short enough to do this effectively I feel like I am sitting
like a jockey. and it dusturbs my balanced seat feeling. any ideas??
