Nancy, I have to remember to go on the group website periodically to 
read your posts since somehow I never get them.  I'm really glad I 
did today.  I'd agree with you, but then I tend to be a less-is-more 
kind of person.

That's good to hear, from a highly competitive dressage rider. I hope 
you feel vindicated in your prior observations.  I think even us 
waaay sub-Olympians can often SEE what's wrong with certain 
techniques, even if we can't alway produce beautiful results.
