I don't agree with that Judy, at least not as phrased. If you mean that Icelandic Horses are rarely seen in the "signature breed gait of tolt" then yes, I totally agree. But I see a lot of gait in my horses at liberty. The soft gaits most often seen here are foxtrot, running walk and saddle rack, with an occasional step pace and a rare flying pace, but many horses in my herd will slip from one of these gaits to trot or canter as they see fit, depending on the terrain, footing etc. But I rarely see an Icelandic do a single-foot tolt at liberty.
