I think your observation of the gait is a good one.  But if it is on the 
diagonal side of the gait chart, wouldn't his diagonals be working more closely 
together than the laterals?

Yes, the pinto is very lateral; stepping pace is a lateral gait.

Maybe we should back up some.  Let me figure out where to start
and we'll bring in some basic info first, including the gait chart.
