I can see that...we try here to do that as much as we are
comfortable with.....we give our horses years before we put shoes on
them and when we do its poly, trust me we would rather not shoe at
all, but it is not possible where we live. Dis is 6 I think, mabye 7
and she has not ever had shoes, she has the most beaituful feet ever,
I am going out to see her on thursday, I will get a picture of her
perfect feet. Come this fall when we start again with some training
I will hate putting shoes on her, itgs either that or a very sore
horse in pain.

Sally rides bareback when starting some of our horses...Skyfaxa was
fine, Dis is fine, but our new gelding who is 10 and never was
started correctly, well, a saddle is a good thing.....our mare we
just bought, retrained and sold, had bit trauma, so she got restarted
by Sally and went bitless.....we only ride with those little riding
'whips' , which I hate calling them that as we do not use them as a
whip, only an extension of our arms......I do not want to ride a
horse I would have to whip to get to move or go faster....not fun.

I guess the pros could do it, but like so many of us we get stuck in
cetain behaviors and patterns that are hard to let go of.

I would really like to see barefoot be ok.

I would like the caveasons checked for tightness..or dropped entirly

I would like the shoes not to be heavier than normal keg shoes are...

(I do not believe that every Icelandic can go barefoot)

I would love to see some small steps toward more natural riding as I
like a natuarlly gaited horse, as I believe the trainers do as well.

Yes Judy, we have only been involved with this breed for 5 years, and
with gaited horses a few years longer than that.....

I would like to ride bareback on the trails, or treeless, sounds fun
and freeing, Sally does it all the time, and it looks like Joy in
Action.

I have fantasies of riding in deerskin, on a deerskin hide galloping
across the plains with a rope around my horses neck....I know its not
going to happen........

But the professionals, they have the balance and skill.....
