The gag bit mechanics are obvious from the outside. The headstall is attached to the purchase. The mouthpiece slides on the O ring, and the reins are attached to the shanks. I know not everyone can see this picture, but do you see the wrinkles in the neck of the horse at the withers? A tell-tale sign of ventroflexion and brace in the neck.
