As I said, it's a major contributing factor to pace.  There are also many
three-gaited horses with long backs - my Gracie (QH x Mustang) is one.  Does
Osp have a long lumbar spine area?  Which part of her back is long?  Do you
know the other factors that determine pace/trot disposition?

And, is "long for an Icelandic" the same thing as a long back in any breed?
I've heard some people define a long back relative to the length of the
horse's legs.  Is that a valid way to determine how long the back is?
