hm. my insurance for stjarni costs $600/year and will cover anything
non-routine (not his shots and such, but any costs associated with say a
colic or a wound, and definitely a mysterious hospitalizeable fever).
i believe my coverage is up to $12,000 -- i'd have to check, but i
bought basically the most they would allow.

i just had to send them the bill of sale and the vet report that i got
for interstate transportation (which i needed anyway).

the company i use is "corinthian" and i found them very easy to deal
with and reasonable (the folks at my last barn used them to insure the
entire school of horses, incl. stjarni when he was there). i don't know
if they insure in your area (they're in ma) but maybe worth a call?

good luck,
