I went to see Body Worlds (www.bodyworlds.com) yesterday in Charlotte
and it was awesome It was fascinating but there was a huge amount of
information to absorb. If it comes anywhere near you you really
should go. The horse and rider were worth the price of admission
alone. This is the last place the horse and rider will be displayed
because the exhibit is starting to deteriorate. All of the other
exhibits took 3-4 months to make but the horse and rider took 3 years.
You could see the horses spine and muscles (all the muscles around the
mouth even) and organs, etc The horse is posed to jump and you can
see the rider using certain muscles to prepare fro the jump. It was
just unbelievable. The audio talked about the ways that horses and
people are similiar in construction and it talked about why horses
aren't built to gallop long distances. The rider had his brain in one
hand and the horses brain in his other hand. I could have spent all
day just at that exhibit but there were so many others. I wish you
could get a pass and could go back several times but you can't do
that. Another really cool thing was the reproductive section. It
showed fetuses from 1 week on and it was amazing at eight weeks you
could see little itty bitty hands and feet and a face. It's so worth
going to.
