Well, maybe both.  Saddlebreds are mostly known as show horses, although there 
has been resurgence of interest in them for "sport horses" too.   They are 
known to be either "3-gaited" or "5-gaited", although some of the show trainers 
will brag that their rack is all man-made.  Go figure.

The Standarbreds are the ones who trot or pace-race on the track, and some of 
those were the foundation of the Racking Horse Registry...although I think 
there are some of all types of gaited horse blood in that registry by now.   I 
think Rowdy Falcon was a Standardbred, or maybe mostly Standardbred...
