Some people probably think I am/was totally crazy buying an Icelandic. You paid what?? Well, it was the best money spent. I plan on having Lukka for the next 20 yrs god willing so I want to make her happy and me comfortable. We are a team so we need to both love what we are doing and not have it hurt either of us or have me afraid. We went riding today, down a country road that can actually be more scarey than a regular horse trail. We (Lukka and i) were with a friend on a huge freisan cross gelding and I was a bit nervous. I hadn't ridden with her (my friend)and didn't know what to expect (her gelding was kinda spooky). She spooked twice in the first hour which for her is unbelievable. She does not get scared. Well, the last half of the ride, we and my friend started talking some serious stuff and she just relaxed.I know it was because I got into talking and relaxed well not from what we were talking about but of riding. Went down past some huge sprinklers, big MidWest field spayers, the big horse was acting somewhat afraid but I tried to relax. Then went down to a lake where a boat and water skier were flying by. I know she knew that I was tense, but she took care of me. She realized there was nothing to be afraid of. God, I love that horse.
