I got a call today from a woman who is interested in
buying Vinney, my yearling 3/4 Icelandic gelding (as
of Monday). In talking with her, I was telling her
about Vinney's mother, Foxi, and what a perfect trail
horse she is, etc. She asked if Foxi was by any
chance for sale, and I said she was to the right home.
Turns out, this woman is 71 years old and has a 28yo
arthritic TWH in her back yard. She is looking for a
dependable trail horse that is small, as she is petite
and under 100lbs. She is coming out to look at Foxi
and Vinney on Monday afternoon, and the ideal would be
for her to take them both. And while I am very, very
sad at the prospect of actually selling Foxi, this
woman sounds like the perfect home for her and someone
who would appreciate her. She has a younger roommate
and they both ride and drive their horses. Hopefully,
it will not be too hot Monday afternoon to take this
lady for a short trail ride. Part of me wants her to
take Foxi and Vinney, but the other part doesn't. But
I have to not be selfish and think of what is best for
them, and that is to have a home where they will be
ridden and appreciated.
