Yesterday for our session I decided that it was time for Alex and I to ride the horses together. We usually work one at a time but I want Orri to get used to having other horses around while being ridden.
The indoor arena was being used for a lesson so we couldn't ride indoors--that would've been the best place to avoid bugs, heat and mud so next time we'll have to go to the barn early in the day before lessons start. As it was, the outdoor arena was slick with mud so we went to one of the paddocks where we were all, horses and humans, chased by mosquitos and biting bugs even though I had sprayed everyone with bug spray, so we called the riding quits after a couple rounds. Even though the session was short it did go well. Orri behaved and listened to Alex who was riding him and Gat was good except I find when following she wants to be right up and touching the horse in front of her so that needs work. Riding leap-frog comes to mind, any other suggestions to cure this? Anyways, I think from now on Alex and I both will ride the horses at the same time, taking turns with each, and then move on to riding with some of the other horses at the barn.
