I thought it was 300. I said on the gaitedlist that I thought john Lyons wasn't that great, for one thing I tried his 300 times deal with Jaspar and trailer loading and I think it made jaspar a little whacked out for life. and I got dozens of posts in response saying what a twit I was that obviously no one in their right mind would suggest you try and make a horse do something 300 times in a row, that it meant 300 times over a period of time. i wish someone would clarify. But obviously what he meant was to teach a horse through repitition. HOWEVER in my admittedly very limited experience if you make a horse do something several times in a row it reaches a point where it begins to annoy him, he begins to resist, he begins to revolt, he begins to brace and harden, and pretty soon when you take him out and make him even LOOK at the thing, whatever, he starts wanting to bolt. In trying to get jaspar in a horse trailer 300 times, i got to about ten and then he started showing me how a human can be made to look like an idiot 300 times in a row-- how a human can be infuriated 300 times in a row. Actually he showed me how he had been very patient but now he wanted me to know he COULD by gosh just wheel and snatch the lead from me and bolt off along a major highway if he so chose.... i mean gosh would YOU want to have to do something 300 times??! that and Lyons roundpenning where he slings a coiled rope at a horses rear end while he bolts around a roundpen, makes him my least favorite of all the horse gurus, but like all the rest, I have learned some things from him. I just always take what i need and leave the rest from all these gurus tho... janice yipie tie yie yo
