My Alex took lessons when she was 8 -- just out of curiousity at first, and then out of passion which led to begging for a pony. My youngest, Taly is 8 going on 9 in Sept, took a few lessons on a lunge but wasn't really into it other than she wanted to try because her sister rides -- I don't push it.
