Hi Wanda, the saddle holder is 70 1/2" clip to clip. I'll post the
other pix of it too. So far I've only used it a couple times, as we
haven't gone out trail riding since I made it. And I think we'll be
staying home and doing groundwork for a while.
I usually use an upturned water tub (their hay tub) to mount off of,
or the side of the trailer, or the fence, rather than mounting from
the ground. There is a pic of the saddle holder clipped to the saddle
dee, altho on a trail ride I will probably put it in my saddle bag.
The idea of using fleece is a great one! Only problem is that it
would be bulkier for carrying on the trail.
I used an old nylon girth, punched some extra holes in it (the
hardest part of the whole project), used 2 old flysheet clips, one on
either end, and tied the ends w/ extra pieces of rawhide. It took me
about 10 minutes to make after I had everything together, and I'm not
a particularly craft-y person. So I think anyone would be able to make
one.
