For the Dobes we used a round green band, it is used to nueter sheep,
but works well for the larger breeds for the tails.

We purchase them at the feed store that sells a banding device to
nueter sheep and the bands fit in the device.

We just adopted a Rott/Chow cross, awesome dog that had his tail
docked, we adopted him when he was 3 months old...one of the reasons
he caught my eye at the pound was because of the docked tail.....he
was brought in my the owner of the AKC female Rott who had a little
romp with the next dooors neighbors Chow one day....anyway he looks
like a solid black Rotti with a docked tail.....he is pretty
cool....we got another gaurd dog so our dobe would not be alone in
the yard...both are very happy together.
