And when we raise our children, we offer them time to play with other children, time for schoolwork, and time to learn socially acceptable behavior, including chores and contributing to the family. We are able to give them fun things to do AND give them structure, aren't we? We can do this with foals also. They do not have to be left unhandled. I think we have very different requirements and expectations of horses here in North America versus Iceland. They want their horses to have that skepticism (healthy fear?) of people, whereas a priority for our horses is to be used to stuff like flags, mailboxes, loud noises, and pool toys :-).
