Hi Bia:
My eyes are not the greatest but couldn't figure out
what kind of animal was having the hernia repair. I
just had one fixed myself and think mine appeared
after giving birth to my son. I also have had foals
with umbilical hernias. I usually do not find them
until the foal is about a month old. I experimented
last year with a back brace (elastic) for humans and
kept it on the filly for a couple weeks. The hernia
repaired itself and to this day the filly is fine. I
had another foal born this year and she also developed
a hernia. Well, it too is gone now after she wore the
back brace. I like this much better than the surgery
option. It was not an option for me at my age but
think with young animals it is an option.
