There is all sorts of pain for a horse, mental anguish too... mental suffering, horses that want so hard to please and get such conflicting messages they don't know what to do and just get more and more anxious and neurotic til they explode and get branded a renegade, show horses "sored" in very subtle ingenious ways.
These pics show things that anyone can see, but there are various means employed that are so subtle. Most all horse abuse is in the WGC level show ring in every breed on the planet. EVERY breed on the planet. If you show horses and you catch yourself starting to alter the first thing that isn't good for the horse just so you will have a better chance at winning, you are no better than the big lick people, no better at all. Even stuff that is so seemingly innocuous like the way people around here who show horses will keep them in august, when its 95-100 degrees with 90% humidity, in THREE winter blankets and stalled 24/7 with floodlights on 24/7 so they wont grow a winter shaggy coat and look bad in the show ring... to me that is as bad as whipping a horse in the face or padding them up and putting acid on their feet. Let it begin with me. I wont do it ---and when i see it i will speak out ---and when someone else says its ok, posts pics of it bragging on how well a horse did in a show etc and there it is in obvious grimaced agony, I will speak out. --- because I care more about horses than what any yay-hoos on here think about me.
