people in the south who ride gaited horses ride them with eclectic
tack, but it is distinctly more english than western.  The most
popular saddle among field trialers is the "trooper" by tucker, i dont
even know what you would call that as far as western or english.  It
doesnt have a horn.  and one of the first "models" of saddle that a
gaited horse in the south wore was a Buena Vista style, which is sorta
spanish?  Again dont knwo what you'd call it but definitely not
western.  There is a spanish influence in gaited horses I think, and
it extends to tack.

as for riding a gaited horse, all gaited horses have a "sweet spot"
and a rider finds it by sitting properly and well balanced and still,
with still hands.  Is that western or english?
