there is a clinician, Richard Shrake, a world congress level AQHA show
judge and clinician, he sells bits, has a lot of videos, some used to
be on RFDTV. He is to me just PROOF you need to "take what you need
and leave the rest" with clinicians. He has some videos that to me
are just comically stupid, like his video on how to judge a horse's
IQ, what a joke. But anyway, he does this leading thing that is
absolutely unbelievable. I tried it and it worked just instantly, and
we were at a large boarding facility and people could see the problems
I was having with this rescue paso fino I had, and I tried this
richard shrake thing and it just instantly cured him and people were
amazed. Its long and too long to write it all out. But basically he
has a way of draping a stud chain loose over the nose and then around
the FRONT of your waist tucked loose in your pants waist and then just
set out walking while holding the arm next to the horse straight out
in front of you, just marching along like a gestapo soldier, and the
chain is loose and wrapped around your waist in such a position that
if the horse starts to rush and get ahead the chain will snug up
across the nose and when he falls back it will loosen, then if he
drags behind, same thing. In like 20 minutes I believe you can get
any horse on the planet walking mannerly at your shoulder. Something
about the arm stretched out next to him is supposed to act like a lead
mare would or something. Its a hoot but I guarantee it works! my
point being you can learn something from even the dumbest looking
clinician.
