>>>>> Okay. I can guess. How about quarter horse and he's twelve. Or
thoroughbred?

I thought the breed would be a reasonably easy guess. You're right, he's a
QH, that we named Cruise Control. We bought him as a young weanling, but
didn't start him until he was four...and this was before I bought my first
Icelandic. We were already migrating towards starting horses at a later age
here. In this picture, he's 4, I think, probably under saddle for maybe
60-ish days at this point - he might have just turned 5 in this picture. At
any rate, he was young and barely "green-broke."

I thought he looked a little TB-ish at that age too, but he continued to
muscle up until he was seven, and he ended up looking very much the
"bulldog" foundation QH that he is.

I found this picture and thought it might be interesting to look at. This
was probably in 2002 I think - that's my daughter up, because with a freshly
broken back, no way was I going to get on a green-broke horse. (Well, not
until Anneliese introduced me to Sina not much later...) I've sent a lot of
pictures in of us working with my young Icelandic's this summer, but
honestly, we started Cruise almost exactly the same way. It doesn't matter
to me if a young horse is gaited or not...you have to get the basics done
before you do anything else. Cruise was as easy to start under saddle as
about any horse I've ever known. We used our "home-blend" of Parelli, other
NH methods, and some good solid "classical" horsemanship too.
