Janice, You did the right thing... I just don't understand why they did not
notice it sooner, I am always watching Jewel, granted last summer we got
into a terrible situation, but even then about 15 minutes into it he was
breathing ok, and eating, by an hour I was back on him, and we gaited in
maybe 2 miles, on a loose rein, I let him decide what gait he wanted to
do... and I watched carefully, he was reacting to the feeling of racing with
the Icy's, the fast foot fall just gets him going most of the time...

He hates the heat and our short ride, turned into a LONG ride, the heat came
up and the HUMIDITY went up fast, as I recall...

I was a mess, was the owner a mess, or was it just you? I had made the group
stop many times and rested him, waited till his respiration was normal
again, then we would go, but he just kept that RACING attitude and
competitiveness kept him pushing, once we were alone, he was So much
better...
