Laree: We have shutters on our old house here in KY and the bats sleep behind them - literally dozens and dozens. They do drop copiously and I pick it up periodically and put in in the garden as fertilizer. If you worry about horses ingesting the droppings (they probably won't) you can install a pan underneath the openings to catch them.
