Typically it is American culture it seems that believes Ponies are
for children....I have a friend here who has a big Welsh breeding
program...she is mabye 100lbs soaking wet, as is her sister and
mother....anyway, they are all very much adults, why shoulden't
someone who is size appropiate for the horse/pony that is being
ridden be able to ride in a class.  It seems so silly....In the
country of orgin, Icelandics are considered horses, and that is why I
always call them horses, as the general public will think they are
just a childrens riding pony, and that could not be futher from the
truth.  Arabians are considered horses, and I know a lot of Arabians
that are under 14-2, a lot.  Height is such a silly generalization.



And I could see that almost 16 hand Icelandic over here with no
problem.  One of the drawbacks in selling Icelandic horses is adults
preconcieved idea about horse height.....
