Hi everyone! We live in southwestern Vermont with our four Icelandic Horses. We have an 8 year old gelding who hardly ever gets ridden and he is wonderful! My husband rides his mother (yup still living with Mom) and I ride his mother's best girlfriend. Our mares are 17 and plan to carry us for many more years. We were keeping the gelding, Ljufur as a sort of spare tire as my husband says and to tell the truth he hasn't been interested in other humans until recently but now he has sort of woken up and seems to feel we should take him out on the trail every time and he is talking to anyone who visits the farm.
He was imprinted, is 5 gaited, big chestnut with big eyes, kindly and started by us through our Parelli program, also he is trimmed barefoot ala Pete Ramey. He is clicker trained as well. He is also the absolutely smoothest ride any of us have ever sat on, like riding your Barca Lounger into the woods. Does anyone have suggestions for us about how to find his right human? I know we can't control what happens to him after we sell him but if possible we would like to get him into a natural horsemanship home with someone who understands that this horse does not ever need shoes (hooves of iron) or a noseband.
