Hey Janice: Take heart! My boss's Belgian and the Paso Fino reacted similarly (well, not quite that badly).
First, if you have the aluminum height stick with centimeters on one side and hands on the other with the black crossbar and level, there's a sneaky trick to it! There are two locking parts (both have red buttons). Grab the stick by the upper aluminum part with one hand and hold the very bottom part with the other, pull the pieces apart until you hear a click and a red plastic button locks in (this is on the vertical part). Now you can open the black plastic part with the level in it (the part that touches the withers)to a horizontal position and the red button on it will click locking it horizontally, now you can slide it down until it touches the highest point of the withers. When the level bubble is in the middle of the glass tube, read the number that's even with the bottom of the horizontal part. If Stonewall doesn't want to have anything to do with the monster calling, satanic rod, bring him and the horrid device to the Liz Clinic. I'm going to try to make it there Saturday.
